Darren Namaye
Principal, Creative Director
With his personal mixture of technique, discipline and “trusting of his gut,” Darren sets the tone of our work. His levelheaded nature inspires confidence in what we like to think of as “controlled, creative risk-taking.” Strategically, he pushes to uncover the essential core of a client’s communications goal, and then he encourages the team to solve it in an unexpected way, through the perfect marriage of words, images and motion.
Early in his career, Darren was introduced to the importance of business strategy to inform the graphic message. Twenty-five years later, strategy informs every design and content decision he makes. The goal is always to make the writing and the visuals work together to become one, cohesive message.
Darren’s work has been recognized by every leading design organization and is included in the permanent collection of the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum. In addition to the awards for IOP work, he’s been recognized by the Mead Annual Report Show, the American Center for Design, Design 100 Show, Communication Arts Design Annual, the Typography 16 Design Annual and the Graphis Design Annual.
Darren attended the University of Hawaii graphic design program and holds a BFA in Graphic Design from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA.
He now lives in Brooklyn, for the balance of urbanity and charming neighborhood-y feel. He travels frequently back to Hawaii for his family, the natural all-around beauty, the beaches and the laid-back lifestyle.
