Nell Schwed
Project Manager
Nell loves nothing more than building, and then tackling, a to-do list. Nell joins IOP after more than 4 years at Futures and Options—a nonprofit based in New York City—where she managed development, communications, and web-based projects. Nell approaches project management at IOP with a keen eye for detail, offering creative solves for problems before they start, and maximizing opportunities for collaboration with fellow team members to achieve a project’s end goals. She believes in compelling storytelling and brings her appreciation for the power of language to every client presentation.
A Brooklyn native, Nell briefly left the city to attend Wesleyan University where she double majored in Art History and English, graduating with honors for her creative writing thesis. She went on to earn a Master of Fine Arts from Columbia University’s MFA program in Fiction. She has taught throughout her educational career, including through Columbia Artists/Teachers (CA/T)—a program that places MFA students in New York City high schools—and Columbia University’s Pre-College Summer Program as an Advanced Creative Writing Workshop instructor. Away from the classroom, Nell still brings those organizational skills and deft adaptability to the project management team.
In her free time, Nell loves to play squash, read from an ever increasing to-be-read pile, work on her writing, travel widely, and spend time more locally in Prospect Park.
